News : Feb 8th: 19:02 Day 36: Five weeks completed on the water and Sean has passed another milestone to motivate him - he has moved under the 2,000 nautical mile mark in the last 24 hours. The weather has calmed and he is making very good progress now, moving steadily south west now, covering on average about 30 nautical miles a day. He sounds like he's actually enjoying himself in his facebook updates (link below) but he deserves it considering the tough days he suffered through last week. Keep the messages of support coming - every one of them helps !!

===========================================
On Monday, January 4th 2010, Irishman Sean McGowan will have left his family in Limerick to take on his life's ambition, to row single-handedly as a participant in "One of the World's Toughest Rowing Races" organised by Woodvale, The Atlantic Rowing Race 2009.
The race starts from La Gomera in the Canary Islands, covers 2,500 nautical miles and finishes in Antigua in the Caribbean.
The challenge though doesn't begin at the start of the race, but over 12 months earlier when the punishing physical training regime and disciplined diet restrictions are put into practice.
This website gives an opportunity for readers to see how his training is going, track his preparations progress and get a feel for the massive challenges he and his back-up team will face in what could be considered one of the last true tests of the human mind and body in the 21st century.
